Located in the northernmost portion of Newbury Park, Conejo Canyons Open Space is an extensive system of plateaus and deeply eroded canyons. It contains coastal sage scrub and oak woodlands, along with riparian woodlands and endangered species. It was designated as a community treasure in the 1970s. There are numerous trails to explore, including a mountain biking trail. There are also picnic areas, hiking and mountaineering opportunities.

The area is known for its high elevation and scenic vistas. A popular trail is the Big Sycamore Canyon Trail. The trail provides a shady picnic spot at Split Rock. Other trails include the Western Plateau Trail, the Hawk Canyon Trail and the Peninsula Trail. The Peninsula Trail is a fun mountain biking trail, but it’s also a little steep. You can bypass a section of the trail to reduce the climb. If you want to take a more direct route, you can use the La Jolla Valley trail. You’ll enjoy sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean and Camarillo. You’ll also find a large number of native plant communities. The La Jolla Valley trail is also a narrow and steep trail, but it’s worth it for the spectacular views.

The Dos Vientos Open Space trail system is comprised of over 1,216 acres of land. The trail system is dominated by costal sage scrub habitat and rare plants. The trail system has 41 miles of shared-use trails and is a critical ecological linkage. This trail system is the result of a historic Spanish land grant. It is located near the city of Thousand Oaks and is also home to a variety of indigenous wildlife.

The trail system is a great place for mountain bikers to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Originally, the trail system was part of the Rancho Guadalasca Spanish Land Grant of 1836. It was preserved as a permanent open space by local residents in the 1970s. Its trails include a trail to the Mount Clef Ridge Overlook.

The Satwiwa Native American Indian Culture Center is located on Lynn Road at Via Goleta, near Newberry Park. The center features a perennial stream, sycamore and oak woodlands, and chaparral. The center is open weekends and offers great parking. The center is run by the National Park Service in collaboration with the Friends of Satwiwa.

The Conejo Valley Botanic Garden is located in Ventura County. It has fifteen specialty gardens, and a hiking trail that winds through riparian steam. The Conejo Valley is surrounded by mountains, and is considered an area of great natural beauty. In addition to the hiking and cycling trails, the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden has a large collection of endemic and native plants. The gardens are also home to a variety of other animals, including coyotes and mountain lions.
